Tails in the City sponsored the 6th Annual Halloween Pet Parade on Sunday October 25, 2009. Close to 300 dogs and their owners came out to raise money for PAWS Chicago. We had a beautiful day to parade to Washington Square Park. Once we arrived at the park, the costume contest began. Our winners received prizes from Starbucks, More Cupcakes, Formula Fitness Clubs, Affinia Chicago Hotel, Tails in the City, The Goddess & Grocer, Stella & Chewy's, and many more! We also had K9 University on hand with a doggie agility track and hot dogs, soda, and chips from Downtown Dogs. Thank you to everyone who attended--all of the costumes were amazing! Our neighbor Oprah Winfrey adopted a new puppy on Sunday March 1, 2009 from PAWS Chicago. Oprah and longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham visited the PAWS adoption center here in Chicago this past weekend and took home a blonde Cocker Spaniel girl puppy. Oprah has been a big supporter of PAWS Chicago since learning about the horrors of puppy mills. She has been educating her viewers by exposing puppy mills, visiting PAWS Chicago, and featuring their state of the art adoption center on her show. In addition, she donated a room in the center to her beloved Sophie, and pledged to adopt her next dog from a shelter. PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is the city's largest No Kill humane organization, focused on alleviating Chicago's tragic pet homelessness problem. Tails in the City has been a long time supporter of PAWS Chicago. For more information on how you can get involved, visit PAWS Chicago.
